How I Fought Recurrent Ovarian Cancer Without Losing Hope for My Future

My name is BEH, and I never imagined that cancer would enter my life at the age of 30. It started with frequent abdominal bloating and discomfort that became so painful I could barely sleep at night. At first, I thought it was only a digestive problem, but after several medical examinations, I received devastating news — I had ovarian cancer.

I immediately underwent surgery in Malaysia. Doctors removed my left ovary and fallopian tube, followed by six rounds of chemotherapy. I tried to stay strong, but the experience was physically and emotionally exhausting. The long surgical scar across my abdomen constantly reminded me of what I had gone through. Chemotherapy caused severe vomiting and hair loss, and there were moments when I felt completely broken.

After months of treatment, I hoped my nightmare was finally over. Unfortunately, in 2024, I began experiencing rectal bleeding. Further examinations revealed that the cancer had returned and spread to my rectum. Even worse, there were signs that my remaining ovary was also affected. Doctors told me the safest option was to remove my last ovary.

Hearing that news shattered me. I was only 30 years old, and the thought of losing my ability to have children was heartbreaking. I also feared going through another major surgery and more suffering without any guarantee that the cancer would stop spreading. I wanted another option — one that could treat the disease while still preserving my future.

While searching for alternatives, my family discovered a cancer-sharing seminar introducing minimally invasive interventional therapy. After learning more about the treatment, I decided to travel to Guangzhou for further evaluation. Although I was nervous about receiving treatment abroad, I knew I had to try.

When I arrived at the hospital, doctors found multiple tumors in my remaining ovary, rectum, pelvic lymph nodes, and even small lesions in my lungs. Despite the seriousness of my condition, the medical team developed a treatment plan focused on interventional therapy instead of removing my remaining ovary.

The treatment process was challenging, especially because my white blood cell count dropped significantly after the first procedure. However, the doctors and nurses monitored me closely and prepared medications to help my body recover. Their care and encouragement gave me strength during the most difficult days.

As the treatments continued, my condition gradually improved. The rectal bleeding disappeared, and follow-up scans showed that the tumors had shrunk significantly. Some smaller lesions even disappeared completely. For the first time in a long time, I felt hope returning to my life.

What touched me the most was not only the treatment itself, but also the kindness I received throughout the journey. The nurses treated me warmly and supported me emotionally whenever I felt afraid. They often joked with me about my favorite Labubu doll, and those simple moments of laughter helped me forget the fear of cancer, even if only for a while.

Today, I am recovering step by step and learning to appreciate life more deeply than ever before. My experience taught me that cancer is terrifying, but hope should never disappear. I believe every patient deserves the chance to fight for both survival and quality of life. Even during the darkest moments, I kept telling myself to stay brave and continue moving forward.
